Join us for a summer full of fun, friends and learning! Each week Thacher's Primary Summer Program focuses on a particular theme, with activities that encourage exploration and learning about culture and the natural world. Children will also enjoy playing outside on the playground, includining a wading pool and sprinkler play.

TIMES AND RATES
Full-Day: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm $320/week
Half-Day: 8:30 am - 11:30 am $185/week
Extra-Care: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. $70.00/week
One-week tuition is due with registration. Balance is due June 1st.

POLICIES
Children must be currently enrolled at Thacher (as of fall 2009) or attending another Montessori School.

Children must be potty trained.

Thacher reserves the right to cancel programming if enrollment quota is not met.

SCHEDULE
Session 1: June 22-June 26
Under the Sea
Join in the fun this week when we dive deep into the ocean to explore life under the sea. Sharks, whales, fish and crustaceans are just some of the ocean’s inhabitants you will be investigating. You won’t want to miss it!

Session 2: June 29-July 3
Mineral Mania
Explore our world through rocks, crystals and gems. Go on rock hunting excursions and learn to utilize a rock tumbler to polish your treasures. We will end the week hunting for and breaking open your very own geodes. Don’t miss the adventure!

Session 3: July 6-July 10
Backyard Visitors
Back again by popular demand, this week will explore the animals that live in our very own back yards. Learn about these different creatures and their habitats as well as enjoy a live animal presentation presented by a trained environmentalist.

Session 4: July 13-July 17
Space Discovery
Blast off for a week filled with adventure as we explore the mystery of outer space. Activities include paper mache planet making, songs and other related games and crafts.

Session 5: July 20-July 24
Ornithology
Become an amateur ornithologist this week as we explore the wonderful life of birds. Study and observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat and create your very own bird house.

Session 6: July 27-July 31
Around the World in Five Days
Get ready for an adventure as your child journeys around the world in five days. Focusing on geography and cultures from around the world, this week is sure to be a “trip”! Children will experience music, food, and lessons that invite them to feel like citizens of the world.

Session 7: August 3-August 7
Bon Appetite
Recipe for fun! Come mix up a batch of multi-cultural cooking experiences and learn about basic nutrition. We will explore cooking around the world, preparing and sampling snacks that will be sure to please the senses.

Session 8: August 10-August 14
Express yourself through Art
Children will explore art this week as we use several different mediums to create unique artwork. Projects will include a mosaic, pottery, finger paint and much more. Please bring a white t-shirt that can be tie-dyed.

Session 9: August 17-August 21
Storytelling Week
Feed the imagination: storytelling through related art, drama and activities.

Session 10: August 24-August 28
Welcome to Thacher
As the summer draws to a close, this week will be an introduction to the 2009-2010 school year. Your child will have an opportunity to explore the Montessori materials and familiarize him/herself with the classroom environment. For those children going to school for the first time or returning to us after a long summer, this is a great opportunity to socialize with peers and become familiar with the school.
